Membership Policy: General Policies and Requirements

Introduction

Queer Liberation Library (QLL) is a free digital library. Anyone with a US mailing address can apply to become a member and receive access to our digital library collections.

  • Submitting an application does not guarantee access to Queer Liberation Library’s Digital Collection. QLL endeavors to give access to all applicants, but has contractual limitations with our digital library providers. In these cases, we will add names and emails to a waitlist and email potential members when we are able to accommodate more users.

1. Data Collection & Privacy Policy

  • In order to provide digital platforms and services, QLL will require some personal information from you. This includes:

    • Name (This name does not have to be the legal name on your ID card.)

    • Email address

    • Confirmation of a US mailing address

  • Library members may occasionally receive email communications from the library or its digital library platforms. Ensure that you use an email address at which you are comfortable receiving these kinds of communications.

  • All use of the data you provide to us will be used to provide library services digitally.

  • Any other data you choose to provide will be used in internal usage reporting. This reporting will be used to make decisions about collection development, library growth, and areas of focus. None of this information will be shared externally.

  • QLL will not give, sell, or distribute your personal information with any third party unless required by law, with the exception of the library service providers.

2. Behavior & Interaction Policy

  • All of QLL’s events, campaigns, and social media feeds are hate-free zones. QLL does not permit homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, ableism, colorism, xenophobia, or any other type of discrimination or hate speech.

3. Repercussions for Non-Compliance

  • Temporary Suspension: Users found violating these policies may face temporary suspension of access to the OverDrive/Libby Service and digital content.

  • Permanent Termination: QLL reserves the right to terminate accounts and remove access from any user who violates these policies.
