100,000 Checkouts!

Dearest Gentle Readers,

You have hardly been gently reading!

Your appetite for queer books has lead to over 100,000 checkouts from our collection since last October. We started this library because of the systemic barriers queer folks have accessing queer stories. But now queer stories have been told over 100,000 times, enjoyed by thousands of our patrons.

We’re thrilled that our small, yet growing collection is gaining such engagement. A special thank you to our patrons, who, during June, raised over $32,000 which has been directly invested into addressing hold times and expanding the titles in the QLL collection. We’ve already seen hold times on some of our most popular titles go down. We cannot thank those that donated enough as each dollar means more queer stories can be told to more people. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

If you missed our PrideFunding campaign in June and would like to donate, you can donate here!

Looking towards the next 100,000 checkouts, we, like the caterpillar encircling itself in a cocoon, must change to grow. Moving forward we will raise the patron checkout limit from 3 to 5. This small change should help assuage your longing by allowing you to read more books at once. When will we have another 100,000 checkouts? A year? Nine months? Less? That’s all up to you, gentle readers.

We will be curating lists for Hispanic Heritage Month starting September 15th. Oh! And September is Library Card Sign-up Month! Encourage your friends, fans, family, and folks at home to apply for a QLL membership.

Thank you,

Gayly Whistledown
