Rounding Out January
Hey, QLL 💜
It’s been a tough week and a hell of a January all around. From your favorite online queer library to you, we hope you’re doing well and shoring up your strength for the coming years. As queer people, our number one job is to survive. If that is all you can do as we move into the new administration, it is enough.
We want to help you get through hard times like this, so this week, next month, in the coming years, check out our Words for Resilience, Community Care, and Survival list. We encourage you to reach out to trusted family and friends and get comfortable with asking for help, for support, and for connection. Our strength will come from our ability to support each other through whatever the future holds.
We had some good things to celebrate this January that we shouldn’t forget. We put together a list to celebrate Muslim American Heritage Month, and on Monday we celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his impact on American civil rights. Queer people of color were on the front lines of both the civil rights movement and the queer rights movement. These communities and histories are forever entwined.
Hey, speaking of community… Did you know we're on tumblr? Tumblr has actually become our main platform for Reader's Advisory questions and replies because of the really useful Ask features. Were able to get pretty detailed there in ways that are much harder on other social platforms, so if you have a burning question about something specific, or you're just looking to read more of the same kind of thing, you can send us an Ask!
Keep the dream alive,
The team at QLL
